Ingredients:
- 500g chicken pieces (you can use boneless or bone-in, as per your preference)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chillies, chopped
- 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust according to your spice preference)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chillies. Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, and asafoetida powder. Mix well and cook the masala until the oil starts to separate from the sides.
- Add the chicken pieces to the masala and mix until they are well coated.
- Cover the pan and let the chicken cook on low-medium heat for about 15-20 minutes or until it’s tender and cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Once the chicken is cooked, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
